Being as though it’s fall many athletes across the country are looking to put on size and strength for their upcoming sports season. So what are ways that one can increase muscular strength and endurance? Let’s take a look.

Muscle hypertrophy or increase in muscular size goes hand-in-hand with muscular strength increase. So how do we increase our muscular size? Our muscles respond to an overload. Given a certain overload micro-tears are caused within the muscle cell which then needs recovery.

To aid in muscle cell recovery and rejuvenation rest and the proper diet focused on an increase of protein are responsible for rapid recovery and growth. If all are present the adaptation will take place in which muscle hypertrophy is increased followed by muscular strength.

Nonetheless not all protein sources are created equal. Make sure to be taking in a complete protein source which has a high-quality amino acid profile which lay heavily on branched chain amino acids. Adequate rest 7-8 hours of quality sleep per night also required for the recovery process.
